Spend a night at the museum!Block-In Overnights

Event Details

• Ages & Adult Supervision

  • Each child and adult in your group must purchase a ticket.
  • All children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event.
  • This event is for children 5 – 17 years and adults.
  • One adult may chaperone up to three children.
  • Each night will be limited to 125 attendees.

• What to Bring

  • Sleeping bag/bedding and a pillow
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, deodorant, etc.)*
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Pajamas and a change of clothes
  • A light jacket or sweatshirt (the museum can be cold)
  • Flashlight
  • Eye mask and/or ear plugs (some exhibits never turn fully off)

  Optional Items

  • Air mattress or extra padding
  • Tents are welcome as long as they are freestanding and no larger than a queen size air mattress
  • Extra drinks or snacks (no glass conainers, no alcohol)

  *Please note that there are no showers at Exploration Place

• Arrival

  • Arrive between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Check-in with Exploration Place staff at the ticket counter in the lobby.
  • Unload your gear in the circle drive and park in the main Exploration Place lot. Wagons will be available to use.
  • Bring in all of your belongings for the night when you arrive. We’ll help you stash items safely until it’s time to set up camp.
  • You are free to grab dinner in WaterWay Hall and then enjoy the exhibits until the activities begin at 7:30 pm in the Kemper Theater (where Live Science Shows happen).

• Dinner, Snack and Breakfast

  • For dinner, grab your construction hat (provided) and engineer a sandwich just the way you like it. Complete your meal with chips, cookies and a drink. We will have sunflower butter & jelly available as an alternative as well.
  • Snacks will be a variety of quick options such as fresh fruit, crackers, snack bars, string cheese and more.
  • Breakfast will be grab and go items and, of course, hot coffee will be available for those needing the caffeine.

  If you have a specific dietary need and want to bring in outside food, please feel welcome to. We have a microwave on-site but there will not be refrigerator space available. If you have more questions about meals or logistics, please call Erin at 316-660-0605.

• Sleeping Area

  • Sleep with over one million LEGO bricks in Bricktopia!
  • Other galleries available for sleeping include Health Inside Out, Design Build Fly, Explore Kansas, KEVA, Kansas Kids Connect and the first floor of the castle in Where Kids Rule.
  • Don’t worry – we’ll provide a map and fully explain the sleeping areas and Quiet Zone to you during the opening Pep Rally!
  • We’ll wait to set up camp until later in the evening, after the activities in the exhibits are winding down for the night.
  • Restrooms are easily accessible from all sleeping areas. Exploration Place does not have showers.
  • Access to wall outlets will be available, but not necessarily next to where you are sleeping. Don’t forget your charger!

  New for 2024

  • For those wanting an earlier bed time, we have designated a Quiet Zone in Design Build Fly, Explore Kansas, KEVA and the hallway near Kansas in Miniature. You can set up your camp site and get some sleep while those wanting a later night head to the Dome for movies.
  • For those wanting to stay up late and/or sleep in the Bricktopia exhibit, we will LEGO movie shorts in the Dome at 10:45 pm. Bed time is at midnight for you night owls!

• Departure

  • Please check the museum for any personal belongings.
  • The event officially ends at 8 am.
  • All attendees must depart Exploration Place by 8 am.

• Safety

  • The building will be secured at 7:30 p.m. and will remain so until 8:00 a.m. the following morning. No one may enter or exit the building during this time.
  • If you decide you do not want to stay the night, you may exit with the assistance of staff. You will not be allowed to re-enter.
  • Adults are responsible for monitoring the children in their group and are asked to stay together during your adventure.
  • Exploration Place staff and a security guard will be on-site throughout the event.

• Refund Policy

  All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. The only valid tickets available for Exploration Place events are sold directly through Exploration Place.
