Discoveration: A Scavenger Hunt Expedition

We need your help finding the answers to today’s clues!

Put on your explorer hat and start an adventure of solving clues throughout the museum. When you’ve found the last clue, hit submit. Congratulations!

We’ll be updating the clues periodically so make sure to check back on each visit and see what you will discover next. Don’t forget to share your adventure on social media and tag Exploration Place. We love seeing your photos!

Ask a staff member at the ticket counter in the main lobby for a map of the exhibits if you need a little help.

Good luck, explorers, on your Discoveration expedition!

Clue 1:
Your body produces gas as part of breaking down and processing food. You also swallow air when eating, chewing or swallowing. All of this gas and air builds up in your digestive system and is released by farting. There’s an animal that doesn’t fart due to not having gas-making bacteria in their gut. Can you find out which animal by visiting the Health Inside Out exhibit?
Clue 2:
Hail Explorer! Stained glass windows were used in medieval churches and castles to enhance their beauty and used as a major art form. Can you find the stained glass merchant in the Castle in Where Kids Rule and create a window design from the pieces? Share your design with us by tagging @explorationplace on Facebook or Instagram!
Clue 3:
The state insect of Kansas became official in 1976 in response to a petition signed by over 2,000 Kansas students. Can you find this insect in the Explore Kansas Pavilion? Hint: This insect makes honey.
Clue 4:
In honor of the Dogs! A Science Tail exhibit on display May 27 - September 5 at Exploration Place, can you spot all the tiny dogs roaming around the Kansas in Miniature landscape? (hint: there are more than 10)
Clue 5:
Pilots rely on instructions in the plane cockpit, but they also have to have a sense of balance that allows them to keep airplanes flying straight and in the right direction. Test your balance to see if you have what it takes to be a pilot in the Design, Build, Fly exhibit. Good Luck Explorer!
