Exploration Place values safety for our members, visitors, guests, and staff. The following are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding our COVID protocols.
As of March 1, masks are welcome but not required while visiting Exploration Place.
Hours and Ticketing
The Exploration Place is open regular hours and does not require tickets to be purchased in advance. We are limiting seating in the dome theater to allow for spacing and encourage social distancing in all exhibit areas. The museum is open Sunday – Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays when we close at 8 p.m.
Explore Store and Snack Bar
Both the Explore Store and snack bar are open regular hours to help serve our guests with the best experience possible. Increased cleaning protocols are in place and we encourage guests to socially distance as much as possible. Restrooms are also open. There are no water fountains available but there are water bottle refilling stations so please feel free to bring a water bottle from home or buy one from the snack bar to refill.
We are not screening guests at entry. However, we are asking all visitors who are sick or feeling unwell to please stay home. Staff who are not feeling well will be asked to stay home as well.
Exhibits and Shows
All exhibits are currently open and available during regular museum hours. Live Science Shows and dome theater shows are both available with limited auditorium capacity.
The following cleaning procedures are in place, for your continued safety. Hand sanitizers are located throughout the facility and restrooms provide convenient access to wash hands with soap and water.
- A fog or electrostatic disinfection treatment is done in all exhibit areas as well as the Explore Store and dome theater each morning.
- UV and disinfection mist treatments are completed in the restrooms each morning with disinfection and cleaning happening throughout the day.
- Throughout the day staff and volunteers use disinfecting wipes and cleaners in the exhibits and high-touch areas throughout the facility.
