Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund generously sponsor 28 classes per year for each public 3rd and 4th grade class in Sumner County. This six-year partnership among funders, public schools, and Exploration Place has given thousands of kids and teachers unique benefits to try science in a different way. With COVID-19, the programs continue, but many of them are a hybrid of virtual instruction and hands-on learning.
This project not only has great classes for students and instructional modeling for teachers, but it also began as a research project. Years of collected data demonstrate an extraordinary shift in student attitudes toward learning science and interest in science careers. It shows an even greater shift in teacher confidence and willingness to include science in their daily lessons. State science also indicates improvement in science test scores for students in the project.
Thank you Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund for making this project possible!
