About this Position
Exploration Place seeks an enthusiastic and goal driven manager to lead and help expand our growing Explore Store. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Visitor Services, this position will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Explore Store. This includes managing the store’s inventory, staff, sales and financial performance. The Store Manager will develop and implement strategies to increase sales, improve customer service and enhance the museum’s overall retail experience.
We are seeking to fill this position with a person who has a love for retail, ecommerce and customer interactions. Preferably, this person will have created and/or run a retail store and have first-hand experience with the nuances of product selection, pricing, merchandising and customer service.
We are looking for someone to drive the store forward through new and developing industry standards and opportunities.

- Managing the store’s inventory, including ordering and receiving products, managing stock levels, and conducting regular inventory audits.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors to ensure the store offers a diverse and high-quality selection of products.
- Supervising daily operations, including opening and closing the store, customer service, and cash handling.
- Monitoring the store’s financial performance, including sales and expenses, and taking corrective action as needed.
This is a full-time position reporting Tuesday – Saturday with evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
Position requires excellent verbal and customer service skills, good organizational skills and the ability to communicate easily with employees, volunteers, customers and vendors. Word and Excel experience required. Salesforce and Shopify knowledge preferred. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
Education and Experience
Retail experience required. Minimum of 5 years supervisor/management experience.
