Exploration Place is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, part-time, Event Supervisor. This position’s main responsibility will be working closely with companies and individuals who rent EP’s facilities for evening and weekend events, as well as, Exploration Place hosted events.
Job duties include assisting in supervision of events held at Exploration Place, including facility set-up, lighting, housekeeping, security, caterers and other vendors. Hours may vary depending on the seasonal fluctuations of scheduled events. A physical requirement of this position is ability lift over 75 lbs. and move large tables and chairs.
Excellent customer service skills are a must.
Position Overview:
- As an Event Supervisor at Exploration Place. You will play a crucial role in executing our exciting events and ensuring that our visitors have a memorable and enjoyable experience. We are looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
Job Duties:
- Assist in supervision of events held at Exploration Place, including facility set-up, lighting, housekeeping, security, caterers and other vendors.
- Set-up, arrange and remove decorations, tables, chairs, pipe and drape, etc to prepare facilities for special events such as banquets, weddings and meetings.
- Assist with custodial duties. E.g. clean building floors by sweeping, mopping or vacuuming; empty and gather trash of staff and guests throughout the museum and second floor; service, clean and supply restrooms throughout the day; clean inside of windows and mirrors in both buildings.
- Other duties determined by supervisors.
Skills:
- Requires excellent verbal skills to communicate with staff, vendors, customers and potential customers, ability to think critically and solve problems, professional presentation, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of housekeeping practices with public buildings
- Knowledge of safe work principles and practices
- Positive Attitude
- Customer Service Skills required
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. On occasion, will be subject to outdoor weather conditions.
Work Schedule
- Based on Exploration Place’s 7-day-a-week operation and entails a rotating schedule of evenings, weekends and holidays. A variation of 5 – 20 hours per week dependent on seasonal fluctuation of events and attendance to be expected.
