Shipwrecks, magic, mistaken identities, romance and redemption collide in The Tempest, Shakespeare’s enchanting tale of a betrayed duke who uses the power of illusion to confront his past. Blending comedy, adventure and some of the Bard’s most memorable characters, the play celebrates forgiveness, hope and the possibility of new beginnings.

The Tempest tells the story of Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, who has spent years in exile on a mysterious island after being betrayed by his own brother. When fate brings his enemies within reach, Prospero uses magic to conjure a powerful storm, setting in motion a tale of romance, comedy, revenge and redemption. Filled with unforgettable characters, including the mischievous spirit Ariel and the rebellious Caliban, Shakespeare’s final solo play explores the power of forgiveness, mercy and second chances.

Wichita Shakespeare Company is a not for profit theatrical organization based in Wichita, Kansas. It is our mission to provide quality, free of charge performances of Shakespearean plays in a setting that is accessible, and provide an opportunity for those interested in working in the arts to develop their skills through practical application. Event Details
Shakespeare-in-the-Park will begin at 7 pm, with an approximate running time of two hours. As always, the play is performed free to all audiences, but donations are accepted and appreciated. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray.
In the event of inclement weather, there will be a message posted at 6 pm on the WSC line (316-655-2017) alerting if the show has been cancelled for that evening.
