New for 2026
Join us in the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater on Friday nights! We anticipate that the season will be even more popular than last year. Please refer to the map to see changes for 2026.
To plan for as many guests as possible, we are updating the seating plan to maximize the upper space of the amphitheater bowl.
The turf area will remain ground-level seating for blankets.
Rows of chairs will be provided on the paved area at the back of the amphitheater bowl. Please do not move or try to replace these chairs with your own.
Overflow seating will be available in several places, as indicated on the map, for personal lawn chairs.
Barricades will be at the end of the parking lot aisles, ensuring that cars are a safe distance from seating and guests.
As a reminder, strollers and wagons are not allowed in the seating areas. There will be an unattended stroller and wagon parking area available in the same place as last season.

Explore Before The Movie
Make the most of your RiverFlix Fridays by exploring Exploration Place before the movie starts!
We’re staying open until 9 pm on Friday nights through October 30, giving you extra time to check out all the exhibits and the Adventure Playscape. Come early, explore late and make it a full night of fun!
Regular museum admission rates apply.
Event Details
Seating
The amphitheater bowl (turf) is strictly for ground seating. We recommend bringing blankets or cushions for comfort.
The paved portion of the amphitheater space will have chairs provided. All guests are welcome to use the chairs in this area, except for a small section marked off for RiverFlix sponsors. Chairs are first-come, first-served and must remain in their organized rows to maintain aisles and walkways. Please do not move the chairs or try to replace them with your own.
There will be limited space around the amphitheater bowl for lawn chairs. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to use your lawn chair, and encourage you to plan on sitting on blankets/cushions if possible.
We will have space available for accessible seating, including guests utilizing wheelchairs. If you need help with ADA seating, please ask an Exploration Place employee or visit the A/V tent for help.
Please do not move other guests’ belongings, chairs or blankets. If you need assistance with seating, Exploration Place staff and security will be available.
Wagons and Strollers
For safety and space reasons, wagons, strollers, scooters, and lawn chairs are not permitted in the amphitheater. Unattended stroller and wagon parking will be available. Please note that the museum is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Service Animals and Pets
Certified service animals are welcome at RiverFlix.
All other pets and animals are not allowed and are better left at home.
Concessions:
There will be food and beverage available for purchase from various food trucks.
Outside food and drinks are allowed – no glass containers or outside alcohol.
Exploration Place will have a selection of beer, hard seltzers and drinks available for purchase. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
Restrooms
Restrooms will be open and available inside the museum. Follow the signs for a shortcut through Water Way Terrace near the amphitheater area – look for the blue “restrooms” flag!
Parking
Free parking in the Exploration Place lot will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Gates open at 6:00 pm to allow time for seating and to enjoy the food trucks. The movie starts at approximately sunset.
Respectful Viewing
Please be mindful of others by keeping noise to a minimum and staying seated during the movie (unless you need to pop out for a restroom or snack break, of course).
Cleanliness
Help us keep the area clean by using designated trash bins for your waste.
Weather
In case of inclement weather, check our website or social media for updates. We will also use outdoor overhead announcements if necessary. In the event of inclement weather, the museum will still be open until 9 pm, even if RiverFlix gets canceled.
