Exploration Place Anticipates Arrival of 5 Millionth Visitor This Weekend

October 6, 2023

WICHITA, Kansas — A momentous occasion is on the horizon for Exploration Place, the Sedgwick County Science and Discovery Center. At some point this weekend, the facility will welcome the 5 millionth visitor since its grand opening on April 1, 2000.

A festive atmosphere is planned, with photo-ops, drawings and extra-special surprises in store for the exact 5 millionth visitor.

Adding to the weekend’s thrill is the unveiling of Halloween Hall—an immersive, Halloween-themed exhibit that fuses the festive with the futuristic. Spearheading this exhibit is a collaborative gaming arena from the Electric Playhouse, an innovative attraction in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that pushes the boundaries of new play experiences with its projection-based engagements.

Adam Smith, Exploration Place’s president and CEO, expressed, “Approaching this milestone, it’s heartwarming to realize that Exploration Place has touched multiple generations. We’ve watched children who once marveled at our exhibits now return, their own kids in tow, sharing that same sense of wonder. Here’s to millions more moments of inspiration and discovery.”
