Exploration Place Takes Camp to 26 Northwest Kansas Counties
May 24, 2023
Partnership with Dane G. Hansen Foundation Brings LEGO-themed Education to 26 Counties
WICHITA, Kansas — Exploration Place, Kansas’ premier science center, is taking its acclaimed camp on the road this summer, expanding into 26 counties Northwest Kansas. The initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.
Themed “LEGO Mania”, the mobile camp program, will engage students aged 8 to 13 in a five-day immersive experience. Campers will have the opportunity to construct a LEGO race car, master a trick shot, design and light up their dream city, code a robot to navigate a maze, and much more. The hands-on activities are designed to put science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), in real-world situations, such as the engineering challenge of building a sturdy bridge.
Camp Director Jessica Nickel shared her enthusiasm about the upcoming program, stating, “The unique aspect of this camp is its design – it’s crafted to spark creativity among children across Northwest Kansas, immersing them in design and engineering concepts. It offers an opportunity for children who may not otherwise have access to a STEM camp. Our goal is to make this experience accessible by bringing it directly to them.”
Exploration Place Travel Camps are being offered for just $50 per student or free through needs-based scholarships. For more information or to reserve a spot, visit exploration.org/camp. To apply for a scholarship, visit exploration.org/scholarships.
