Jan Luth, President
Jan Luth joined Exploration Place July 1, 2010. She came to Wichita with more than 30 years of experience in the museum field. Jan began her career in Midwest archaeology but as she realized her passion was sharing information with the public, she shifted her focus toward museums.
Jan earned a bachelor’s of art degree in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in historical administration. She has worked in museums on the state and local level in Indiana, West Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, where she held positions at a historic site, history museum, one of the nation’s largest science centers, and a historic village. Jan has also been a consultant, serving as a project manager for a children’s museum. In addition, she has spent years as an adjunct professor teaching museum studies and public history for Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Kent Shank, Chief Financial Officer/ Human Resources
Kent has worked in the museum industry for 23 years. He is responsible for the financial and human resource functions of Exploration Place. Kent spent 16 years at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center as vice president of finance and human resources where he was responsible for the finance and human resource functions as well many operations functions throughout his career there. Before Exploration Place he worked for Via Christi Senior Services, Inc. as regional director of finance. Kent received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Kansas State University.
Lynn Corona, Director of Exhibits
Lynn oversees the planning, development, production, implementation and maintenance of EP’s permanent exhibitions, as well as administers traveling exhibit contracts, negotiations and scheduling. She has more than 26 years of experience with developing both permanent and traveling exhibitions for museums, in addition to an extensive background in general graphic design. Prior to Exploration Place, Lynn was exhibit director at the Science Museum of Virginia, and before that was an exhibit designer at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Lynn earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign. Her other talents include painting media using oils and acrylics, drawing media using pencil, charcoal, pastels, markers, inks, water colors and air brush.
Christina Bluml, Director of Marketing
Christina has more than 21 years of experience in the marketing field, and has been with Exploration Place since 2001. She oversees the museum’s print, radio and TV advertising, public relations, social media, publications, signage and website. Before joining Exploration Place, Christina served as marketing specialist for seven years at Commerce Bank, Wichita. In 2013 she received the Wichita American Marketing Association's Non-Profit Marketer of the Year award. Christina earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State University.
Laurie Gregory, Director of Development
Laurie oversees all aspects of fundraising, as well as Exploration Place's membership program. She has more than 15 years of experience with fundraising, sales and communications. She also served as a Kansas State Senator for the 33rd District from 1997 to 2001. Before joining Exploration Place, Laurie was a development officer at Saint Francis Community Services. She was responsible for recruiting, cultivating and growing its donor base and corporate partners in south central Kansas and Oklahoma. Laurie is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, attends Central Community Church, and is a past member of the Maize Kansas School Board. She earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts and graphic communications from Bethel University, in St. Paul, Minn.
Chaille Blount, Director of Visitor Services
Chaille has more than 20 years of experience working in the National Park system, aquarium and zoo fields. She found a love for informal science through education, program development, customer service and community partnerships. Chaille comes to the museum after spending 15 years as the secondary education coordinator and docent coordinator at the Sedgwick County Zoo. At Exploration Place she oversees gallery experiences, guest relations, volunteers, facility rentals and the Explore Store. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in marine sciences with specialties in biology and environmental science from Coastal Carolina University.
