Hands-On Programs

Experience science

Book your own hands-on programs, available as a series or stand-alone classes. Programs can be held at Exploration Place or at your facility with Science on the Go unless otherwise noted.

Each program is 45 minutes in length, but can be adjusted. Programs can accommodate up to 25 students at a time with a minimum of 10 students.

Preschool

Kindergarten

Ants & Engineering - Lift like an ant, complete compound eyes and work through a maze to obtain "food." LS1.A

Code-a-Bot - Create a maze and tell a bee-bot how to move through it.

Collision Course - Examine the change in motion when two objects collide. K-PS2-1

Rolling Rolling Rolling - Construct and test a maze to change the speed and direction of a ball. K-PS2-2

Stormy Weather - Test soil against the elements and see how storms are made. K-2-ETS1-2; K-ESS3-2

3, 2, 1 Launch! - Construct and launch a rocket. K-2-ETS1-2

1st Grade

Code-a-Bot - Create a maze and tell a bee-bot how to move through it.

Hoop Glider - Test sizes and shapes to see which glide the furthest. K-2-ETS1-2

Sounds & Circuits I - Use Makey Makeys to create sounds by connecting circuits.

Vibration Station - Make matter move and travel across distances with sound. 1-PS4-1; 1-PS4-4

Your Traits - Fill in features of a homemade creature to learn about genetic traits.  1-LS1-3

3, 2, 1 Launch! - Construct and launch a rocket. K-2-ETS1-2

2nd Grade

Camouflage - Become a predator and learn different techniques used to try to catch prey. 3-LS3-1

Flower Power - Determine how resources are distributed through an environment. 2-LS2-1

Grades 6 - 8

Anatomy - Dissect a sheep brain, squid, cow eye or pig heart and discuss the function of the organ. $5 per student supply fee required. MS-LS1-8

Animate it! - Using Scratch, students will create a short animation.

Trees and Leaves - Examine tree cookies and discover the colors in leaves as we take a closer look at trees inside and out.

Animal Habitats - Learn about where animals live and build models of their shelters.
